For the first time in 2018 the contest will feature both boat and shore diving, featuring 12 dive sites which are all within 1.5 hours of the capital of Timor-Leste, Dili. Each dive site will have a contest center which will provide communications and first aid, charging facilities and refreshments for participants.

Each participant will be assigned to a vehicle with driver, a dive buddy/guide and a unique multiple tank swapping system which will allow near unlimited access over the entire contest with a huge variety of sites. This will allow participants to compete at the highest level possible whilst ensuring a world-class level of safety.

The contest aims to attract a very high level of photographer: initial entries will only be accepted by published photographers or photo contest winners/placed entries. The contest will also use a wild card draw system to pick out lucky amateur photographers who will get the chance to compete with industry experts. The contest will be composed of six divisions each with their own top three awards
